Sparks to headline the Hollywood Bowl

Sparks will headline the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on July 16 with special guests They Might Be Giants.
Sparks have recently completed their 27th studio album, ‘The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte’ which is slated to be released via Island Records on May 26th 2023. It follows on from 2020’s ‘A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip’ and the band’s soundtrack album to their 2021 musical film Annette starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard. The film, directed by Leos Carax and released in North America by Amazon Studios, made its world premiere on opening night at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, and later went on to win five prestigious César Awards, including original score for Ron and Russell.
“Our first experience of the Hollywood Bowl was in 1964 when our mom took us there to see The Beatles. Our futuristic Fiat Multipla could barely make it up the Bowl’s steep parking lot due to the Italian car’s meager horsepower. We risked life and limb driving backwards in reverse gear up the hill. It was way worth it…we got to see The Beatles.
We never would have dreamed that in 2023 we would be standing on that same hallowed stage, performing for fans of our own group, Sparks.
And hopefully everyone will have a better experience with the parking lot than we did.” Ron and Russell Mael
This follows the news before Christmas that Focus Features is developing an original musical titled X-CRUCIOR, written and executive produced by Russell and Ron Mael. The logline is being kept under wraps for the musical epic. Focus’ Kiska Higgs will oversee production on behalf of the studio.
