Award winning John Owen-Jones (Les Miz/Phantom) releases a single from his Christmas album. Now More Than Ever is a song written by Chris Eaton, who has written a lot of songs for Cliff Richard. Now More Than Ever was the most downloaded track from John’s Christmas album. The Christmas Album was released in 2021.
John says, ‘It’s simply a great melodic song with a very appropriate and spiritual lyric that reflects the uncertain times we live in.’
Recently John performed in a very successful revival of La Cage Aux Folles, at the Regents Park Theatre, in London. This follows John’s critically acclaimed performance in The Great British Bake Off Musical, as Paul Hollywood. John will be performing in Paris over December and January in ‘A Funny thing Happened On The Way to the Forum’, by Stephen Sondheim. The show opened on 1 December, at Lido 2 Paris.
Last year John released his own theatre-based podcast with fellow Broadway and West End star Alistair Brammer called ‘The Last Show on Earth’ that asks the question: What show would you see if you had one night left on Earth? It has featured guests such as Samantha Barks, Matt Lucas and Michael Ball and new episodes are released monthly.
At just 26, John became the youngest actor ever to play the role of ‘Jean Valjean’ in the West End and was the first British actor to play the role both in the West End and on Broadway. John Owen-Jones has also played the role of ‘The Phantom’ in ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ nearly 2000 times – more than any other actor in the history of the West End production. John has released five albums, ‘John Owen-Jones’ (2009), ‘Unmasked’ (2012), ‘Rise’ (2015), ‘Bring Him Home’ (2016) ‘Spotlight’ (2019) and ‘The Christmas Album’ (2021)
