Sydnie Christmas, the sensational winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2024, has taken the nation by storm with her breathtaking performances and exceptional talent. Hailing from Gravesham in Kent, having studied at the D&B Academy of Performing Arts, Sydnie made her “off West End” London stage debut in Lazarus. The ex-gym worker also had stints on cruise ships where she performed in productions such as Grease. Sydnie also performed in Starlight Express in Germany, Bochum. Getting onto the “West End” stages was appearing to be a hard battle for Sydnie. She decided to give it one last shot when applying for Britain’s Got Talent.
Her triumph on Britain’s Got Talent made her the first female singer to win the show and is just the beginning of what promises to be a remarkable career. Her journey is an inspiring story of talent, perseverance, and the power of dreams. As she steps into the limelight, the world eagerly awaits the next chapter in the extraordinary life of this gifted performer.
Sydnie said: “As soon as I came home after receiving the golden buzzer, I opened a bottle of prosecco and started thinking about what song I would be performing at the live Semi-Final. It was important for me to sing something I love and music that means a lot to me. I am an old soul and grew up listening to a lot of Elvis and Frank Sinatra, and ‘My Way’ instantly came to mind.
Frank’s version is a song I listen to on repeat, so I opened YouTube and found a piano backing and thought about how to make it my own. The lyrics inspired me as it is so fitting to my journey, and I was then set on doing it. I put so much work into creating my version of ‘My Way’ and it was the highlight of my BGT journey. The reaction I got and everything that followed was the biggest validation I could have received and encouraged me throughout the rest of my time on and after the show. I am so proud of this single and hope it inspires others in the way it has done so for me”.
Sydnie saw Britain’s Got Talent as her final chance, having experienced a run of unsuccessful auditions, and felt that it would be an exciting opportunity to end on. Little did the vocalist know when she signed up that she would go on not only receive the Golden Buzzer from Amanda, but win the show!
Following on from her win, Sydnie will perform at this year’s The Royal Variety Performance and will kick start next year with her first ever headline tour in February, performing at some of the country’s most prestigious venues.
